It requires 30,000 units of Botulinum to kill a person, making it a safe choice to insert in facial muscles to reduce moderate to severe wrinkles and lines.

When Botulinum Type A Toxin is injected into the skin, it decreases the release of acetylcholine and blocks certain nerve muscles that make muscles contract. The muscles relax, reducing or eliminating facial lines and wrinkles.

Yes, you will need a consultation with our aesthetician to assess your medical history to determine whether or not they can go ahead with the toxin injection. This normally doesn’t take more than 15 minutes.

Very small units of toxins are administered via a few tiny injections directly onto the muscle responsible for causing those stubborn lines. The treatment usually takes between 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the area being treated. As it’s a simple and safe procedure, no recovery time is required.

The number of treatments you may require depends on the results you are hoping to achieve. However, in most cases, patients are able to see a drastic difference after a single treatment as well. Type A Toxin gradually smooths out the wrinkles, and the results can be seen for up to 4 months.

Anti-wrinkle injections work by weakening the muscles, so you won’t be able to say immediate results. Some clients begin to see effects after 72 hours, but for others, it may take up to a week or two.

It can last up to 3 to 6 months, potentially longer with repeated treatments. However, the results vary, depending on your lifestyle choices, such as regular exposure to sauna, steam or heavy gym user, as well as super-fast metabolism or excessive disorders.

Using anti-wrinkle injections too frequently may cause muscle resistance. As it freezes the muscles, over time, these muscles become shorter and smaller. This can often mean that if you plan your treatment at regular intervals, the effects of anti-wrinkle injections will last longer.

It’s also important to consider how many times you have been treated as well as other influencing factors. Younger people with less depth to their wrinkles will usually experience long-lasting effects than those with less elastic skin and deeper wrinkles. Furthermore, if you use anti-wrinkle injections at a younger age, you can completely prevent the development of fine lines and wrinkles.

As with any medical procedure, there are risks and possible side effects. Complications are uncommon, but the patient may experience temporary side effects, including redness, tenderness, bruising, swelling, and twitching in the area. Drooping of the eyebrow or eyelid and allergic reaction is rare, but some patients experience localised bruising. Our staff is fully trained in helping you manage these side effects.

In preparation for your anti-wrinkle treatment, avoid chemical peels and skin needling 7 days prior, and refrain from drinking alcohol for 24 hours to reduce the risk of bruising. 

• Don’t rub or massage the injected area for 4 hours after the treatment
• No strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment 
• Avoid skin manipulating treatments for a week
• Stay upright for 4 hours after treatment, avoid lying on your front  
• Avoid wearing headwear that is tight fitted across the forehead
